Yardstick is a web-based sports grading system for competitive players.
It is used by Tennis (known as TopDog) and can be used by all other sports with similar formats.
It is user friendly and simple to operate.
Yardstick has been competition tested and proven in New Zealand.
Players love it.
- It records the results of games from interclub, tournaments and other approved matches.
- It grades players on the results of games, based on the points won or lost on the date that the matches were played. A player is not rewarded just for playing matches, unless she/he consistently wins against higher ranked opponents.
- It allows for players to be regraded when circumstances dictate they should be.
- It allows for grading in separate events such as singles, doubles & mixed doubles.
- It ranks teams on the results of interclub matches.
- It prints grading lists, player histories, teams, and more.
- It allows for the extraction of player details which can be used for mailing purposes in products such as mail merge.
It can allow Team Captains to enter interclub match results directly via the Internet. This is a big administration time saver. An administrator will create the Competition infrastructure: it's grades, teams, and players. Captains then take the responsibility for entering match results, which will be immediately available for everyone to see. As such, the system is self-policing.
- It establishes a standard system for the grading of competitive players of all ages and at all levels of competition.
- It enables the matching of players of similar ability and thus avoids mismatches.
- It provides an incentive for players to improve, and encourages more competitive play.
- It assists in the qualifying and seeding of players for tournaments.
- It assists in club team selection, and the placing of teams into their correct grade.
- It enables the monitoring of a player's progress from that individual's very first to most recent competitive game.
It helps overcome many of the problems that occur with selection, promotion & relegation, and personnel changes.
It gives organisers an objective base from which to work and helps eliminate bias.
It gives players a level playing field.
